Who We Are

About H.A.N.A. of Tampa

The Haitian American Nurses Association of Tampa (H.A.N.A.) was founded in March 2014 by Ms. Shakema Doreus, RN, BSN, MHA — a Miami native who made Tampa Bay her home after receiving her BSN from the University of South Florida.

H.A.N.A. of Tampa is dedicated to fostering an environment of professional growth, camaraderie, philanthropy, and collaboration for nursing and allied health professionals of Haitian descent throughout Tampa Bay and Central Florida.

Through our annual Scholarship & Fundraising Gala, we award thousands of dollars in scholarships to nursing students and continue our mission of serving the Haitian community — especially those navigating the healthcare system who need guidance, support, and representation.
